Beat Jaggy
Lighting Designer

Beat Jaggy gained his first experience as a drummer as a self-taught musician in various rock bands.
After completing teacher training, he devoted himself to studying classical percussion with Pierre Metral in Sion and Geneva. As a student of Pierre Favre, he came into contact with well-known figures from the music scene. Further studies led him to Udo Dahmen, Jose Cortillo and Andrea Schneider.
Beat Jaggy is a percussion teacher at the Allgemeine Musikschule Oberwallis.
He works as a drummer on projects in a wide variety of musical styles. Together with Alex Rüedi, he leads a youth big band and a youth rock and jazz orchestra. He is the founder of the percussion ensemble "schlagfertig", with which he has been showing audiences ever new facets of percussion for years.
As a musician, he is particularly interested in projects that transcend conventional boundaries and enter into surprising partnerships. His activity as a composer and arranger has steadily increased, as there was seldom literature for the special instrumental ensembles he assembled for projects or concerts. Over the years, a multitude of musical works for various formations have been created.
Another branch of his activity is the creation of lighting and multimedia projects. Among other things, he was responsible for the lighting design of the dance projects "After Effects" and "Endless" by Arthur Kuggeleyn or for the multimedia implementation of Gustav Holst's music "The Planets".
In recent years, he has devoted himself primarily to the development of the cultural center "ZeughausKultur" in Brig-Glis and his project "CarillonPlus – Kirchenglocken auf Abwegen" (Church Bells Gone Astray).
